Need Flex Migration Help?
- Adobe ends Flash player support in 2020
- Flex apps will no longer function
- We can help migrate your app
I am back in Chicago after a great event at 360 Flex. I had the opportunity to work with Matt Boles delivering a 4 hours cram session on Flex 101, badger the Flex product manager and gain some interesting additional insight into Flex memory.
I also had an amazing opportunity to mentor a great group of Flex developer during the Northwest Charity Flex Jam. The concept was pretty simple, if not incredibly aggressive, build a functional app to facilitate an ongoing set of food drives for the Northwest Harvest, an organization taking on the more aggressive goal of feeding the hungry in the Northwest US. Together with my colleagues and peers Josh Berling, Mike Nimer, Jeff Tapper in addition to plenty of others that offered their continual support, we tried our best to answer questions and guide an amazing group of individuals toward a goal they were determined to hit. I am proud to say they did.
The team was wonderful to work with and really turned this event into both a charitable venture and an amazing way to learn Flex. I find myself inspired and hope we can find a way to build on its momentum. While the whole team was fantastic, I had the special privilege of working very closely with Merritt ‘I can’t believe that guy is still pounding out CFCs‘ Chapman, Louie ‘I will have you a design in an hour‘ Penaflor and Roberto ‘Cairngorm takes orders from me (but don’t call me Renaldo)‘ Rodriguez. Shawn ‘Damn Paypal, full speed ahead‘ Goss and Dusty ‘Subversion answers to me‘ Jewett saved our lives at least once each, albeit I didn’t get as much of a chance to work with them directly. While I didn’t mention them directly, each of the other 30+ members of the team contributed in a way that was undeniably invaluable. This project would not have gotten done without them. Finally, special thanks to Ali Daniali for organizing the concept and getting me involved in it. I was very happy to be a part.
I hope all of you make it in town for Max.
If so, the beer is on me,

Thanks again for all your help. I’ve already implemented some of the things I learned from you and the other mentors into my current Flex project. See you at MAX!
